INTRODUCTION
INDUSTRIAL TRAINING UNIT

Background 

Industrial Training is a compulsory component in the polytechnic syllabus. Students have to pass industrial training before being awarded a Certificate or a Diploma from the polytechnic and the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia.  Students will be placed in government or private institutions for 20 weeks (1 semester) to expose them to the real working environment. 

Students qualify to undergo industrial training after passing 2 semesters in the polytechnic (for certificate) and 3 semesters (for diploma). Students have an option of either seeking out industrial placement themselves or request for places via the industrial training unit. Students have to undergo internship in suitable places in accordance to their respective courses of major in the polytechnic.  The industrial training unit (UPLI) is also responsible to ensure continuous rapport between the industries and the polytechnic.  

OBJECTIVES OF THE INDUSTRIAL TRAINING PROGRAMME:

  • Develop student personality
  • Improve on Communication Skills.
  • Practice good working ethics.
  • Master relevent skills.
  • Produce an industrial training report at the end of the training.
